ABOUT ME
Ricardo was born and raised in Caracas, Venezuela. He is working towards a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering with a certificate in Computer Science. Ricardo joined the Van Lehn group in the Fall of 2018. He is a huge fan of sports and baseball statistics.
RESEARCH INTEREST
My work is focused on studying the influence on hydrophobicity when varying the pattern configuration and polarity in a self-assembled monolayer (SAM) system. In particular, I work with alkanethiols of different chain lengths and terminal groups, such as amines, amides, and hydroxy groups. My goal is to use classical molecular dynamic simulations to develop design rules for tuning the hydrophobicity of SAMs by controlling the patterns and terminal groups.
